Fighting Dehydration

Winter is (finally) over but my skin is still dealing with the residues of dehydration due to the cold weather and it's really nothing nice. I'm struggling with finding some good products to help me and my skin with this dehydration concern for a while, and even though the problem isn't completely solved yet and though I know drinking a lot of water is the way to go, there are a few products that are really helping in making things a lot better.

You can definitely start hydrating your skin with your cleansing routine because even that can help, and for me introducing the Superfacialist Rose Miracle Makeover Facial Oil (£9,99) was a big success. This is a pre-cleanse oil you need to apply on your dry skin before the cleanser step and massage it with circular motions for a few minutes, then wipe it away with a hot damped flannel. All this process not only is very relaxing but helps a lot in opening your pores so that that cleanser of yours can really do its job, but also nourishes your skin in the meanwhile with avacado and carrots oils. You can also mix a few drops with your usual moisturizer and leave it on overnight for an intense hydrating session. Then for cleanser I can't suggest cleansing balms enough as they usually are a lot more thicker than any other cleanser and contains hydrating ingredients as well, and you know about my love for the Emma Hardie offering, but if you lean towards a cheaper alternative the Merumaya Melting Cleansing Balm (£14,50) is the way to go. It's very rich and on the oilier side when applied all over your dry skin, so it gives a good instant relief to dehydrated skins and it really makes the difference with its blend of sweet almond and echium seed oils.

Hydrating serums are needed if you suffer of extremely dry skin but even if you have a oily or combination skin you may still suffer of dehydration as well, and a good moisture boost is always welcome. For that I'm really liking the Indeed Labs Hydraluron Moisture Booster (£16,66) - of which I only have a little sample size, but I may need to stock up with a full size very soon, and that Boots discount is really appealing to me - a hyaluronic acid based serum which helps a lot in deeply hydrating your skin from the inside. I can really see visible results even only after a few weeks of use, so I highly suggest it if you're struggling with dehydration and want to give your skin some rest. Something I'm pretty addicted to is the A-Derma Exomega Emmolient Cream (£9,45) which is a thick and rich hydrating cream for sensitive, atopic and super dry skins. This helps me a lot with my eczema and super dry patches on my face and I seriously apply it several times a day when I feel my skin needs a bit of relief. It's very thick so it takes a few minutes to completely sink in, but it's seriously the best thing I tried that keep my problematic skin concerns at bay for a while. For a quick touch up during the day or on the go, if I feel I need a bit of hydration or my dry patches really bore me, I blend a bit of Botanics 93% Organic Super Balm (£3,33), which is great to give your dry skin some relief but not that impressive on the long term results as if applied alone it never really sinks into your skin. When I'm home I like to apply it on damp skin (maybe after spraying some thermal water by La Roche-Posay or Avène) so that it's easily adsorbed in a fraction of the time, but for on the go I just keep it for emergencies and in that case I think I'm going to settle for a brief relief.

Something I can't suggest enough if you suffer of dry patches all around your eyes is the Botanics 80% Organic Hydrating Eye Cream (£5,99). This cheap drugstore pick really makes a tun of a difference in healing your dry patches in just a few days. Containing a mix of natural ingredients such as sweet almonds, rosehip and olive oils, shea butter and beeswax, is so hydrating but lightweight that you can also apply it in the morning before your concealer  without making the latter crease. I'm super impressed with this one and my skin around my eyes is really enjoying dealing with it instead of every other not effective product I tried before. As for hydrating masks there're a tun on the market nowadays but my dry skin savior is definitely the Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask (£21,50), which is good for an infinite list of uses but also in hydrating your skin if used once or twice a week, applied all over the face and left on for 15 minutes. Once rinsed off this mask leaves my skin so plump and visibly hydrated and with its blend of natural products such as manuka honey, avocado, mandarin and carrot oils, it makes everything even more nice and relaxing.
